A large Queensland-based transport operator manages a fleet of over 200 vehicles across the state, servicing all of the Australian east coast and South Australia.

The Problem

Australian transport operators are becoming more and more tightly legislated. Safety is under particular scrutiny through regulatory bodies such as the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and other state-based bodies implementing other key safety and compliance regulations. This transport operator needed more innovative ways to keep on top of their compliance requirements without devoting additional resources to this oversight.

The GoDesta solution

GoDesta worked closely with the transport operator to identify their greatest concerns related to subcontractor, vehicle, and driver management. Once the areas of greatest concern were identified, GoDesta implemented automated processes that would allow the transport operator to keep on top of their compliance requirements. “Compliance is becoming a larger part of our business every year. We are keenly aware that we run a lot of heavy vehicles which may have the potential to cause damage if not managed well. We used to have to manually enter data into spreadsheets and manipulate that data to get real results. Now with GoDesta we have a simple driver dashboard that highlights any expiring fields 30 days prior to expiry. We determine which expiry dates we wish to monitor, such as vehicle registration, drivers licences, vehicle insurances, and high risk tickets. These are flagged as coming up to expire with ample time to get update copies, and if a document does expire there is a failsafe option where we physically cannot allocate out any work to that driver. This streamlined process has allowed us to manage what used to be done by a team of two in compliance, to now being managed within the branch. This helps us keep our guys safe on the roads, and compliant with NHVR requirements.”
